Lace-up your comfy walking shoes and join your knowledgeable local guide as they unfold the cities rich cultural legacy before you as you discover colonial Lima. Visit the 16th century Santo Domingo Monastery and climb up the bell tower for the most incredible view of Lima. Take a walk through Casa Aliaga and marvel at the vintage furnishings and tilework of this colonial mansion that has been occupied by 16 generations. Next, take a walking tour of the Plaza de Armas where you'll learn about the history of the presidential palace and the Lima Cathedral. The Plaza de Armas also called the Plaza Mayor is a cannot miss when coming to Lima. There isn't a single building that remains from the 16th-century settlement in this 140 square meter plaza, however, at the centre of the plaza stands a beautiful bronze fountain that has stood there since 1650. Regardless if you enjoy history or not, you will be blown away by the knowledge of your guide and the happenings that have taken place in this plaza for centuries. Note that this Day Tour is operated by one of G Adventures' preferred suppliers and will be a shared service with other non-G Adventures travellers. Meeting Point: Your local guide will pick you up from your hotel in Miraflores or San Isidro at approximately 8:30am. As this is a shared tour, the transport may arrive shortly after depending on the route it takes to pick up other travellers from their hotels. You will be briefed by the guide upon pickup while you make your way towards to Lima downtown for your tour. If you are staying in a hotel in Barranco, you will need to go to a hotel in Miraflores for pickup.
End Point: The tour will end at your hotel in Miraflores or San Isidro at approximately 1:00pm.
